Expenses for videos

As some of you know my channel is based on trying out different recipes and DIY projects. I have so many ideas but then as I make each video I realized I'm spending a lot on supplies that I need to make my videos.

Does anyone have any tips on ways I could save on things? I thought about going to a thrift store to buy some supplies for one of my video...

U mean to say u don't wanna spend money on cameras, lightings and other equipments?

No not those kinds of supplies. I'll give you an example, I'm working on make a video on baby shower decorating ideas, so I'm going to need to buy diapers (i dont have kids), different materials, glue, etc..

If youre making money back off your videos I would put them down as expenses on your tax return.

Maybe not for 2014, but I'll definitely keep that in mind for claiming 2015 taxes.

I use reward programs to help fund my channel and blog. I'm always opening trading cards, and they can be very expensive, especially the older sets. It has worked out for me as I earn hundreds of dollars every year from these sites.

can you elaborate more please? Is reprograms an actual website?

I'd buy the most generic options you can find and check out thrift stores like you said. Maybe even make that part of the appeal for your channel... showing folks fun DIY for those on a budget.

I have a similar problem. I spend a LOT of money creating content. Purchasing car parts, tools, gas money, food so I can feed the people helping me,etc... It's really not sustainable right now haha

I'm not sure what the answer is. I'm trying to find some options that are cheaper to produce but still entertaining on some level. I'm basically budgeting a bunch of money now, and hoping it pays off later. It probably won't, but whatever, it'll be fun while the money lasts. Then my channel will disappear I guess.
