Evolution of YouTube

KC Punk! KC Punk!
I've been on YouTube since around 2007 on my first channel then switched up one more till i got to this one i created in 2009. So over the years I've been happy with the success of YouTube but also kinda of disappointing as well, with its later looks and functions.

Back then you broke out by making content that was interesting and unique and though this can be still achieved i still find the pay for your views isn't what i thought YouTube would become.

I find here is more of a community then YouTube is today i could be over exaggerating though so what do you think of YouTube today ?

User-wise, I think it's like walking into a huge nightclub. You're going to come across one or two really nice people but mostly it's just full of racist, sexist, prejudice, bad-tempered arseholes. On here though it's like walking into the pub in Cheers, haha.

Content-wise, there's a lot of useless videos that get undue attention, but I am a firm believer that if you 'do it right', you'll get the viewers. It takes time, and too many people blame YouTube and its changes for a lack of an audience when they should be looking at their own content.

Ill admit the content and a lot of it useless or not does play a role but some of YouTubes functions worked back then dnt now like the Sub boxes they've gotten worst and worst

With the partner program open to nearly everyone, there seems to be shift from a YouTube run community to a community built by creators. So it's not as structured as it was when YouTube was running all the official meetups, but in some ways it's better. There's more opportunities out there to work with other channels if you know where to look and with the partner program opened up, it's easier for smaller channels to work with larger ones. Vidcon, playlist live and summer in the city weren't possible under the old regime. All three are great examples of creators coming together to make something that benefits both them and their fans.

I made my account in July 2006. I only uploaded 2 or 3 videos each of the first three years just for the heck of it. But after that, I decided to get serious and set goals with the specific intention of growing my channel.

YouTube is a fantastic opportunity to earn revenue for creating content, fostering interactivity, and we get to meet some cool people from all over the globe.

If you're dissatisfied with your income, you should consider what you are doing and why. If you're not satisfied with your community on YouTube, what have you done to foster a community that you enjoy? It is easy to blame YouTube but it takes effort for you to achieve your goals.

If you came to YouTube with expectations of being able to do whatever you want and expect to become successful, that may have been an unrealistic expectations.

It's not fair to compare YouTube to YTTalk. They are different mediums and one is more conducive to being an interactive community.

As for the changes with YouTube, people tune in for content. They don't tune in for fancy banners and background images.

Ya i must of been in a roughty mood earlier YouTube's changes aren't just from YouTube's team its the users themselves though i don't agree with all of what the site looks like now i can accept it im on YouTube to just make consent for fun anyway though i do hope they slow done on the layout changes in the future. But either way i am excited to see what YouTube becomes later on

I've only been on Youtube for like a year....and there's been a TON of changes since I've been on lol. I do know what the old Youtube was all about....and it seems as though, when Google took over, it became all money hungry. I think I do understand it in a way. There are a TON of people on Youtube now.........so they need to keep the revenue coming....I guess?? Is it a need? Or is it more about just making profit. My guess is the latter.....
What I don't like is all these changes with the sea of white backgrounds, taking away our backgrounds, getting harder to get views and subs............
I think the most frustrating thing of all is that there's nothing we can do to change it.
