Ever Meet / See a Big Youtuber in RL (Real Life) haha

I recently met Rémi Gaillard ( https://www.youtube.com/user/nqtv) - one of the biggest comedy / prank channels on YT (5 million subs, 1.5 billion views)

We live in the same city and he was crossing the road next to me with a friend of his. I'm not really the sort of person to get star-struck, so I just said "hi" and then we had quite a cool chat for about 10 minutes about YouTube and other stuff that's going on in our city. It ended up with him asking me more questions than I was asking him lol, so yeah he's a pretty cool guy. After we chatted, he and his friend started filming a scene for one of his videos so I watched that for a few minutes and then carried on on my way. It's pretty funny because that video is now up on his channel with over 4 million views ^^

The "biggest" YouTuber I've met is probably Jim Chapman. I met him at a show press night in London back in 2014 and asked him if he'd mind being in my vlog for a few seconds saying hi as I was vlogging the evening. He was really lovely about it and I still have that video on my channel.

I then bumped into another British YouTuber (who I won't name, but he has over 100,000 subs) on my way to work last year. I was with a colleague and decided to say hi to him. Although he seemed nice enough, I found him to be a little bit arrogant. For instance, as soon as I told him I watch him on YouTube and love his channel, he immediately started going on about his latest videos and how good they are and that I should defo watch them. (I wasn't a big fan of this YouTuber, I was just subscribed to him as I enjoyed some of his videos). Also, he asked me if I wanted a photo! I didn't, of course. I'd just wanted to say hi and I found him a bit self-important to assume I want a photo. To avoid awkwardness though, I said yes. My colleague took a couple of photos of us on my phone and as soon as we left, my colleague (who'd never heard or seen this YouTuber before) told me she thought he was arrogant and not likeable.

Then just a few months ago, I bumped into a group of smaller YouTubers (50,000 - 100,000 subs) in a restaurant in London. Their table was on the way out, so I decided to quickly go up to them and say I enjoy their videos before leaving, simply because I genuinely thought they'd appreciate it. This was the most awkward encounter I've eve think! The conversation went something like "Hey I watch you guys on YouTube, you're all great"... One of the guys just stared at me, a girl (also a YouTuber) sat next to him kind of smiled and nodded, but literally... it was mainly silence. I then just turned around and left as I didn't know what else to do. I found that incredibly rude and have since unsubscribed to them all. I realise it may have been unexpected for them, or they may just be awkward people (they do come across awkward on their channels too), but this was just ridiculous.

I only have about 2,300 subs and have been approached by viewers randomly about 30 or so times. Even though I'm always taken aback when people recognise me, I try my best to be nice and friendly and make sure the people knows I appreciate them, even if I feel awkward. It's not hard to be polite.

I have never met a youtuber in RL, but would LOVE to meet one! Vid Con will almost gurantee that you will meet atleast one! If you want to meet a specific one, follow them on their social media as most youtubers will announce where exactly they will meet their fans :)

I've never met any big Youtubers in real life, but I recently found out that Emma Blackery comes from the same place I'm from which I found interesting aha

Not really so much a story of meeting as much as it was an epiphany. Where I live in FL, this girl who went to a high school here (and still lives around the area). It's been a good while since graduation-she's older than me (around 5 years older) and I graduated in 2008 so I can assume about 12 years. Anyhow I do community theater and she occasionally comes and sees shows seeing as she's good friends with a girl I've done plenty of shows with.

One day Les Mis was the next show coming up, and she commented on Facebook about being interested in it. I made some comment I forget, and moments after that comment a PM from a friend was all, "Do you know who that is?!" I was all "No." Turns out it's VenetianPrincess.

So all this damn time VenetianPrincess has been literally around the corner, at my shows, conversed with, and among my circle of friends and I had no bloody idea. Made me feel embarrassed about mentioning my YouTube channel in the program. Must have scoffed at the size of it in that, "psh everyone thinks they're a YouTuber now" way. Lol.

So yeah, she's about one of three people who actually made it beyond this stupid small town to pursue a career of some renown (it's a football player from my high school who's in the NFL, and some guy from the community theatre who does broadway now otherwise-come on Cromartie for the 4th :p)

Very few that I actually liked, and I have met quite a few. YouTubers (Specifically Vloggers) don't tend to have a backbone.

Jesse Cox, Boogie2988 and the Trollstation lot are probably the only ones I actually thought were decent people.

What counts as big? There seem to be hardly any youtubers in my state, but I went to high school with ChandlerNWilson, who is big in the lgbta sphere. They have 230k subs and we chat fairly frequently.
