Ever lost a bunch of work, footage, scripts, ideas?

I had a hard drive fail on me last week and luckily all I lost was some software and all my bookmarks. It wasn't anything serious like footage, scripts and Ideas because I keep all my footage on a separate external HD and my scripts on another with my video concepts and outlines written down.

However, I am still disappointed about losing what I lost especially since I haven't backed up my bookmarks since May. It could still be worse though. Anyway, I'd like to hear what horror stories you guys have had in relation to losing YT type stuff like footage, informational bookmarks, scripts, ideas, etc. It would really make me feel better.
 
The worst thing ever is deleting your own videos, which you think you have uploaded but you have not yet. This has happened to me way too many times :D
 
Oh God, yes. Now that you've reminded me, I'm upset about it all over again :( But yeah, it happened this summer, made a post about it here too. My computer's hard drive suddenly decided to die on me, and I didn't back up in time to save some of our most recent shoots. We hadn't missed a week of uploads until then, but had to take a week off since we lost what we had shot most recently - which, unfortunately, was an exclusive interview with Dada Life, which we obviously couldn't re-shoot.

Now I've learned my lesson and back up everything! Sorry you had to go through a similar thing, man :(
 
I recorded a Hotline Miami Rooster run, and the hard drive in which I had everything saved died. It's a shame because I also pulled a couple of impressive combos in that footage
 
Always back up everything, guys! Especially if it's integral to your content creation...

If you're reading this right now GO BACK UP YOUR DATA!
 
Sorry that happened to you.
I've lost footage twice. One time there was a hard drive error and Windows "repaired" it by setting a file to 0 bytes (argh :rage:) and the other time a video file was corrupt - it just stopped playing in the middle of it. Had to reshoot everything.

I know I know, but I'm too poor to just buy another hard drive and I'm actually saving up for a laptop that could also double as backup space.
 
I've managed to delete a newly edited video that I'd spent a couple of hours working on. I still had the raw footage so it wasn't too disastrous, just annoying!

I've had some annoying instances when working with groups on other media projects where someone has got a bit too creative with the raw footage and not saved a copy of the original. It's not a problem in itself but when we've had to go back and make changes, it's sometimes put us in an awkward position.
 
I used to lose a lot of thoughts and ideas because I forgot to right them down. Now I take notes on every video idea as soon as it pops into my head regardless of how ridiculous it may be!
