Ever felt... dirty? Or like you sold out?

If you had to wear a costume for an entire day...

I have used copyrighted music on several occasions (luckily I don't monetize my videos). Other than that, my record is pretty clean...for now!

Do you say that because you showed up as an ad on other videos? It would be weird if someone posted on your video, "stop spamming videos I'm watching as a pre-roll".
No haha. It was just in the beginning of a regular video. No one ever mentioned anything about it, so I don't really think my subscribers cared haha. But I just didn't feel right for doing it since it has nothing to do with my channel, or with me.

Oh pssssh, if you were selling out, you'da field-blurred the background, turned up the contrast on the subjects, and selectively brightened certain parts of the image. You're totally fine :p

Taking notes, will try harder next time boss. haha[DOUBLEPOST=1368651421,1368651219][/DOUBLEPOST]
It's basically an in-video ad, of you personally endorsing something. It can look bad on you if others view you as a sell-out for it. This isn't necessarily true, just somethign that people can be concerned about.

Ah! I thought it was like AdWords or Virool where you make a commercial for your channel. I didn't know you had to endorse something on the ad, I guess not being 100% behind it, it can feel dirty.[DOUBLEPOST=1368651514][/DOUBLEPOST]
Not remotely. I think that money makes the world go round (as unfortunate as that is) and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to earn that money.

In terms of being pervy over being chaste ;) it's natural. TnA, as you put it, yeild results. Nobody should feel the need to defend anyone dressed like that cos it's their choice and in cosplay it can look totally badass.

And heck, I'd pick someone I found more appealing. Why not eh? That's the idea: it's visual, you're not deciding who's the nicer person!

Don't worry so much :D

I hear you, but for some reason it feels like I did something morally wrong lol. I really don't want to look like I'm cheapening out and going for easy views, even if my primary audience is supposedly 18-55 year old males...

Yeah, I felt dirty before, but not for selling out or on YouTube for that matter.

I was shooting a corporate film for a big charity organisation, showing their work, and had to film a nurse taking care of this old man at home in his bed. He had had a stroke and needed the nursing cause he basically couldn't do anything but lying in his bed. He also couldn't communicate, so even though his wife was ok with us filming him, everything being all set up with her beforehand and the film being for charity and all, but HE couldn't say yes or no, which bugged me and both me and my camera/sound assistant felt dirty afterwards and didn't talk much on the car ride to our next location. I did frame my shots in a way that you couldn't see his face and focused more on the nurse though. It was just something that we didn't think about until we were in this situation. But makes you more deliberate in the future.

But I don't have a problem with stuff like those Gorilla campaigns as long as it fits the channel / content. I'm not with Fullscreen, but I could see certain campaigns fitting into my show-kinda-thing. Like I had this piece about the origin of Fanta (both the product and it's name) in one episode, that COULD pretty much have been for such a campaign. Even though, Coke may have not been to appreciative of me mentioning Nazis in connection to their product. (But at the end of the day it's a story about hope and overcoming difficult circumstances...)

No Will, it isn't......damn it I have to elaborate don't I?

Sex sells, I'm sorry, it does. Your display works and brings in people to at least watch the vid. Also what's to say you didnt use it for the amazing work they did on their costume? f**k THE BEAR!

I did it on my convention video, I don't care it was a great scene and people want to see it. Good! I did it on my bill 14 video using a Canadian Soldier saluting the flag. Still don't feel bad.

Anyway we can talk about in greater detail another time. How about this Friday over beers?!

We went over this! I'm busy this Friday! hahaha. I'll send you a PM.

I hear what you are saying, that's the reason why that part of my brain won and I used that thumbnail. Also what Frankie said in that they dressed that way and posed that way for a reason, I'm not exploiting them... not really anyways lol.

I just like to think that content can stand on its own two feet and not require these kinds of advertising tactics, but it's a dog eat dog world.

Fine! I'll read your stupid PM!
Your stuff will at some point be able to stand on it's own. But the biggest thing you can do for yourself other then of course put out great content. Is to get EXPOSURE! You know it to be true! So whatever needs to get done yo!

I don't think you did anything wrong Will...just for the fact that the picture IS in the video. It's sad to say but people tend to click on thumbnails with cleavage. Look at the reply girls for God sakes. The difference is..your video is informative, interesting and actually worth viewing.
P.S. Can you photoshop my face onto one of their bodies and send me that pic? That'd be great, thanks.
