Envy of other youtubers?!

Oh, of course! I'm in no way on the level of "Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared" (or even close to the creativity of those folks), but to see a show that uses puppetry do so well makes me strive to make new videos that are really far afield from what I'm doing and seeing if it'd get any traction. So a bit of envy and a bit of motivation all together.

Envy/Jealousy is very normal. But I try to remember that only person I'm truly competing with is myself of yesterday. As long as my channel's growth is growing faster than it was a month ago, I know I'm in the right track.

Because I only watch videos of youtubers that I really admire, I'll only envy those who rose to fame by making boring/viewer-fishing-title videos

Do you ever find yourself being envious of other you tubers and their growth? Of course you want to support them and cheer along side of them, but do you ever wish it was you having that exciting growth? :) just a question
Yeah of course, I've watched a guy put up his first animation and it's grown from 300 views when I saw it to 30k and I'm sitting here doing the same stuff and barely getting attention, sucks but what ever

I have seen so many YouTubers around me outpace me I have grown numb to it. They get success, great! Right place, right time and the right appeal. I don't have that. But I might in the future. No matter where you are there will always be people that are envious. I got 3000 subscribers. The big players in my genre are 100k and above. But the people look at me when they are at 10 subscribers the same way I should look at those with 100k +

I would love to achieve 100k subscribers and millions of views. But I am not envious. Envious would mean I look at the numbers too closely. That would hamper the fun factor. I don't want that. The numbers are the numbers. The people I meet, the videos I produce. It is a winning proposition. No negative feelings allowed!

Oh absolutely, especially as an animator. I remember how I felt back in 2011 seeing something as simple as Nyan Cat take the internet by storm and thinking, "well damn it-I'm busting my a** doing hundreds of drawings for jack s**t. Someone loops one drawing over a song jgrgrggrggrumblegrumble " That wasn't all either.

But it's alright. Compared to myself I'm further along than I ever dreamed of being and can only get further from here if I don't quit. ;-)

Sometimes I do, but I try to think of how far I've come since my very first video and how much I'm learning. Also I think to myself, are all of their subscribers loyal?

Dude, exactly! If you aren't having fun then why are you doing it? Never ever ever focus on the numbers.
