Enable Paid Content?

Hi guys, I saw this "paid content" feature in my youtube settings about enabling paid subscriptions. Can someone please explain what this is and whether I should enable it? I've attached an image to show you exactly what I'm talking about.

Edit: I just want to make sure this is not the youtube settings that allows people to pay and not see ads while they are watching?

its pretty much for those pay $__.__ to watch the full video, show, or movie channels.

If I ever see a gamer or any other youtuber using this for extra money I'd be like..

Oh, I thought it was something like Patreon. Nevermind then. That's for movie channels I guess.
 
I only found out about this today and was concerned that because I didn't have over 1,000 subs it may affect my channel in the future. - As YouTube are only offering it to people with 1k + subs. Although I'm just assuming they'd offer it to me when I hit 1k +

Yeah, but I wouldn't do it even if you did hit it. As they said, it's for those per-view movie things.

Don't quote me on this, but it may be how long your account has been up. I have very few subs and it's offered to me, but I've had my account since 2008 I think. Just recently started posting.

Oh I see, I made mine in December 2014 - Hm, or perhaps it's a country thing? I see you're in the States, and you guys usually get things first when it comes to YouTube! Haha (I'm in the UK) - thanks for replying btw :)

I have an account from 2006, and it doesn't have that option.
