Elgato Game Capture Audio sync

OMGItsKittie

I've Got It
Hey fellow yttalkians!!

I was wondering if anyone else had a problem where the elgato records perfectly then the audio slowly starts to desync, I'm talking about game audio from video, sometimes even the live commentary audio, I use the setting to record my live comm sepreatly from the game audio so i can have better control over editing out background noise, but its hard to have a decent gameplay series with audio issues becoming present three to five episodes in, I've basically had to restart several series twice.. Any idea what can be causing this?

If its hardware let me explain I was using a p**s poor computer with the elgato game capture hd, i3 cpu 6gb ram and intel graphics 2k, I have recently updated to a by far better computer i7 cpu haswell-e 16gbs ram and a gtx 980, so maybe that could have been my problem? I am not sure.

I've also recently upgraded to the elgato game capture hd60 and i would like to see if i can resolve this issue before its to late to return it.

Thanks for your assistance in advance! :}

Hey OMGItsKittie, I actually have the same issue with the Elgato capture, however, this might work for you. Unfortunately it seems if you go beyond a certain length (for me it was beyond 35+ minutes in one run), the encoding process of the video desyncs the game audio as you said. However, I no longer use the encoded .mp4 file. I go to the EGC_Library folder and use the raw .ts file, put that in a video editor and work with with that instead. Also, for commentary, I was getting too many inconsistencies to go with Elgato's software, so what I do is open up Audacity along with the capture software, and record commentary with that instead and just put it together in a video editor. I hope this helps!

Thank you very much for your helpful reply! I've figured that i might have to record my commentary with audacity, just didn't want to deal with the syncing but its now unavoidable, Also coming to think of it i recored a 2hour long mass effect session and around the middle of the video 34min and beyond i did also notice the de-sync in audio. thanks for pointing that out as well!
