Educational Youtubers?

I've Got It
Hey there!

I am currently trying to find new or old youtubers that have an educational channel.
It could be anything from teaching a new language to Science, maths, philosophy etc.

If yes, it would be cool, because I am looking to subscribe to such channels (especially beginners) so I can also learn on how to start off.

Appreciate replies! :)

Oh there's loads, but the thing with 'how to' channels is that people tend to be looking for a very specific task to complete, so doesn't really drive engagement or audience retention once they've learned that thing. I can't think of any specific channels off the top of my head, but the Ted and TedX talks are fantastic and eye - opening (although not specifically 'how to'). I know I watched a lot of lectures and stuff during my degree, so there's always something.
What kind of content are you looking for?

What type of educational channels are you looking for? Like people speaking to the camera (that's me haha, I do self-development videos) or some animated ones? Some great animated ones that I can think of on this forum are SelfMadeNerd, PictureFit and OnePercentBetter. All of them are super high quality and very educational :)

Hi!
A few tips I can think of are these:

1. Check, check, triple check for errors.
As humans we make mistakes and generally, that doesn't matter. However when you make a mistake in an educational video it is 10x worse since people will start questioning everything you say and your credibility will drop. In saying that, don't freak out. If you do make a factual error and realise it once you upload you can just put an annotation up correcting the error.

2. Look at the trends.
This doesn't just apply to educational channels, but every other type of channel as well. If humans are about to land on mars, make a video about mars. If a genius solves a famous maths problem that was always thought to be unsolvable make a video about that. Basically, be always watching (Wazowski XD) and ready to pounce on opportunities that emerge. One thing I recommend keeping an eye on is the little Facebook trending box. It shows different trending topics in politics, science, technology etc.

3. Emotion is contagious.
Be happy, be confident and enjoy what you do. If you're going to make videos where you are in them and talking show the viewers you are happy. Whenever I watch such videos where the presenter is happy I find their emotion contagious and start smiling lol.

Best of luck with your channel, let me know when you start! Seriously, message me or something.

I guess the obvious, high quality suggestions would be Crash Course and SciShow. Both of which have some production budget behind them, but are well worth checking out if you get a chance. You might also want to check out MinutePhysics and Vi Hart. All of those channels are particularly good at putting a lot of information forward in a very relatable way.

One of my favorite channels is The Brain Scoop, which is run by a natural history museum. Also Vi Hart, who talks about mathematics.

Check out "freedomain radio", the introduction to philosophy playlist was something I used to listen to around the house etc. Depends on the audience age too
