Editing software help ???

I would recomment downloading a few test versions of different providers to see which program you like the most. You can make great videos with all of them Magix, Adobe, Sony Vegas etc. There's no perfect programm. It's just up to you what you prefer. I would also recomment searching for free programms. Sometimes Magix and others let you download some programs for free for a few days.

So I've only been using the REALLY basic windows movie maker up until now, but I want to move onto a much better editing software.
It doesn't have to be free but I want one that would be suitable for vlog style videos and maybe that some famous youtubers use.

Anyone have any recommendations for me please and thank you

I also recommend Sony Vegas, it's easy to use and I've used it for years! A lot of people use final cut pro but I feel it is unnecessarily complicated and if you're mainly gonna be using it for vlogs you don't need to make things complicated. Check my channel out, I am a proud Sony Vegas user

I recommend final cut pro x if you have a mac.

I agree. while its not the best for complex colour or effects it's workflow I've found to be second to none. Easy and slim lined and with background rendering excellent for speedy edits.

Definitely. I only wish that was the version I had. I have FCP 7. Paired with Motion 4 it is very good for complex coloring and special effects but not nearly as streamlined. My actual professional job though contains a video composition role though so I have been using it for years now. I get by pretty well with it.

Go for Sony Vegas Pro. Great editing program with a lot of possibilities. You can find it free around the internet if you look hard enough.
