Editing a video

I've Got It
Hey everyone,
This is in the help thread but I'm looking for criticism too, but mostly tips, so if this is in the wrong thread as I always seem to post in (sorry about that) please move it! Thanks as always YTTalk Moderators.

Anyways, I've always asked for criticism of my videos from friends and I try to improve my videos based on it. Recently the criticism is that my personality makes the video and gives it charm but I suck at editing them properly! Now I think they mean (they couldn't really explain) that where I cut the video and clips for a video is misplaced. So I decided to post in here, do you reckon it would improve quality to upload 2 15 minute videos of a full gameplay or cut it down into one 10 minute video for example by cutting it, if its know that my timings for cutting isn't quite as good as it should be.

Thanks for any help everyone, and remember, avoid them headshots Undead!

I enjoy watching play through videos but personally get bored if its to long and drawn out, and has nothing engaging to fill in between each major event. The reaction of the player and the general commentating (if funny and not chalk full of swears) has me watching more from the uploader.

Generally speaking the shorter video will have better audience retention simply because most people aren't going to watch the longer version, or they may skip around in the video to find the more action packed sequences. I recommend watching other channels that you admire and just watch closely where and how they do the editing. Learn from their successes.

personally i always find pasting the entire take into FinalCut then start watching. I edit as though i'm a viewer. If i get bored the viewer will be. Every edit and change i start from the beginning and watch again, as soon as the 'flow' of the video isn't right its usually time for an edit. Obviously there is too long, and have a length in mind, but i think what you end up with is something that is watchable. Hope that helps
