Learning the basics of most "complex" editing tools. Imo Premiere is very easy to pick up.

The most popular editing software among YouTubers is either Adobe Premier Pro or Sony Vegas Pro. Both of these programs have extensive features but the interfaces are quite easy to get the hang of, they also don't force you at all to use the difficult features. They are both very similar, I personally use Premier Pro because I prefer the interface and I like to keep all my production in Adobe applications.

Sony Movie Studio is good and cheap, w/o unnecessary "Pro" features that are in Vegas Pro
