The original reason I started YT was to make money. After the first couple of years I switched to just enjoying creating videos and helping others as I wasnt earning much cash.. Then it switched again when I started making money and I almost feel its a chore to keep up with daily uploads just to bring home the cash.

Haha you can change your vote now, I found out where to edit the setting.
I wasn't offended or anything, I just realized that mixing the part with the crappy videos and stuff into this topic, may lead this into a direction I didn't want this to go :)

And now we can discuss the definition of earning money on yt ;)
If I could maybe buy a playstation game or some cheaper equipment for my GoPro after a year, I would see it as a total success :D

Of course there are way better alternatives to make money. I heard people do have real jobs for example :D

I love doing YT but man can it be stressful and equally as fun.[DOUBLEPOST=1492777205,1492777048][/DOUBLEPOST]

No boss, working at home or somewhere else, flexible working times, only having the self discipline to do something .... doesn't sound too bad at all when I think about it :D

I keep repeating this in several posts but to be honest I started Youtube as a "therapy". I have a full time job so it's definitely not money related but I always need to have an hobbies and something I can focus on to distract me from the cuotidian problems/situations. That used to be the gym but I have a very physical job and unfortunately it makes me too tired to keep on that as much as I'd like. I started my channel in order to replace that and I honestly love it because when I'm working on it nothing else exists and completely absorbs me. It takes a massive amount of time and followers to make money at all so I don't think a lot of people will start with that purpose! I have so much fun doing it that it's completely worth it. If someday my channel brings me money well that's cool but if not that won't make me stop as well.

It's complicated with me. I did youtube for 12 years before I monetized my channel. But, in those 12 years, I posted very few videos. Since I monetized and started earning money, that has inspired me to work harder to produce more content more often. So, yes I do youtube for creative reasons, but the money pushes me to do it better. With the money I have earned I have been able to buy better equipment and I spwnd more time in the editing process making my videos more entertaining. If I were not earning, I would still do it, but I would go back to releasing four or five videos a years, and not four or five videos a month.

That's pretty cool: having a hobby, which leads to money for the hobby :D

started it because i had nothing else to do :)

oh yeah and i also met some cool people last time so it was nice to start again

Did you start to make videos because you thought it was a good chance to earn some bucks or are you mainly having fun with filming / creating / ... and earning some bucks is just a positive side effect, but would do it eitherway?
Um, neither of those 2 options. I started to make videos because it sounded fun and I wanted to get reactions out of a bunch of people. I didn't plan on doing it very consistently, though. Then I realized I could make money from it and now it's mainly the money that is keeping me doing it. Thankfully I don't have to put a whole lot of effort into each video because I've figured out a good and efficient method now. But I'd definitely have stopped long ago if I wasn't making money.
