Downsizing from 720p to 480p?

Doom Video Vault

I Love YTtalk
I've got a question for all of you guys, I've been watching some 480p videos of LingYang203 and I was getting adjusted to the resolution the guy uses and knowing it also takes up less space posting smaller res videos but more native resolution and was thinking of doing the same thing. The only downside is I would have to place the DVV watermark elsewhere on the screen.

Pros:
- Smaller file size
- Closer to original DOOM resolution
- Potential to render files at a higher bitrate (Over 2,500 kbps)

Cons:
- Watermark will need to be moved elsewhere
- May be blockier due to fewer pixels
- Videos with "Rate/Comment/Subscribe" end pictures will need to be downsized.

What is your take? I do have plenty of space on my 1 TB drive (about 300 GB free) but I get the feeling recording at 640x480 will give the more "classic" feeling.

Yeah I'm with the above poster. Also some people are extreme snobs and will point that out on your videos also. If you don't care that, your second con should be enough for you to stick with HD. You also said you have enough space.

Record in 640*480 and make a nice overlay for 720p.

In most cases, I would say absolutely not. However, for your type of content, I can't imagine it matters. It'll look mostly the same, maybe even closer to the real game than 720 would. Downside is you can't upload 60 FPS in 480, so keep that in mind if you want to do that.

When I used to do gaming content, and upload in 720p, a few people actually asked me for 1080. Some people are real sticklers for their video quality, and you'll find that if you're making content for PC gamers, they'll always request higher resolutions.

So I don't know. You could try it? If anyone complains in the comments, you can just go back to higher res.
