Dont quit YouTube, Dont SUB4SUB (small youtubers)

I've had a few people recently leave comments on my videos basically saying I'll sub you if you sub me...The first few I politely declined and said that I'd look at there channel and if I liked what I saw I'd sub them (And obviously if they liked what I produced then do feel free to sub me) Not one of them has taken me up on the offer xD Subsiquently I've deleted most of the spam...admittedly I probably didnt do myself any favours commenting under a video from Boogie that was related to the monetisation boundaries changing. but you live and learn...

Similar thing on Twitter with people wanting follow backs and the minute you follow them they unfollow you. Just down right rude.

For me, YouTube is a side hobby, something that I enjoy doing. At this moment, I dont even know if I want to monetize my videos because as soon as it becomes a job, that is when it starts to become a chore.

Good point! But you say you wouldn’t want to monetize because it’ll feel like a chore. You may change your mind when you actually have an Audience that loves your content. Just imagine several people waiting for you to come out with a new video. That thrill you’d have and appreciation would motivate you just make more for your fans. This is just my opinion of course. You never know, you may have die hard fans behind you. Keep up the work!

Ive seen a lot of this as well. as Ive said in two 'reading your comments' videos, anyone who tries to get me to sub4sub might as well just pack up and unsubscribe now. I dont do it. period.

I agree. Sub4sub will only inflate your subscriber count but they don't actually attract active subscribers to your channel. There's no point in having a bunch of dead subscribers on your channel as it doesn't help your channel grow at all.

People are gonna do what they want to try and get their channel above the payment threshold. All that Sub4Sub and that sort of mentality is going to do is cause YouTube to raise the bar even higher. I mean sure, it is frustrating, but the changes they are making will be good for the platform in the long run. It will bring about more serious content creators that want to meet the requirements and will make being a partner more esteemed. This will in turn require people to start playing by the rules and guidelines more in fear of losing partner status.
Ultimately, this will lead to an increase in the trust between YouTube and advertisement partners - leading to more adverts for the platform.

All in turn.

Exactly! I made this thread for people that actually enjoy making YouTube videos. Nothing makes me feel better then putting out a vid and people enjoying them. Lately I’ve been getting told that people enjoy my videos and want me to upload more. Nothing better than that.

Are you people aware of the scam program by James Cox called, #iamacreatorthon? I want this guy and others like him to be removed from YouTube, along with anyone who has uses his system. It is the most disturbing thing I've ever seen and I now know why people like us suffer. It's a total sub4sub scam that they call "support." He does this long marathon-like video where people ask for "support" and he announces their YouTube channel and how many subscribers they need to reach their goals. Then people who are watching this live video go and support their channel and then ask for support back. James Cox will actually say, "let them know that you have supported their channel because they will go back and support your channel as well." How do we, as YouTubers, compete with this going on? He also then encourages them to use new phrases such as, "I clicked the red support button." Also, he tells them to watch, in full, other channels videos, but to run them in the background so that you don't have to really watch them. This then brings up all these people's view times as well. So we are fighting a machine. How do we report these people and stop this insanity. It's killing those of us who work hard and do the right things.
