Agree! Sometimes sub4sub is not very bad if you do it in your niche and maybe will attract real watchers of your content. But random sub4sub is total nonsense. I would like to keep my news feed clear.

I would understand if people be do sub4sub if people had similar interests as you and you know would want to collab or learn off you. But just trying to rise the number count is pure doodoo. I usually post on IG to get my content out there and I do use the hashtag #sub4sub since it basically is a community of youtubers. But the amount of people that continuously comment on my pictures asking for a sub4sub AFTER the fact I denied to do so, is ridiculous. Totally agree with this and this is coming from someone who has only 19 Subscribers. I can only speak for myself and my colleagues who work so hard on our podcast that we do it for the love of film. I'd rather have 19 people who are interested in what we do than 100 who are "dead" subscribers. I'm happy with this announcement from YouTube. It's time to let the creators have their platform back.

Exactly... I know some guy on my IG that always comments on my posts asking for a sub4sub... this dude has 900+ subscribers and only 3 videos of which only has no more than 600 views... I started about 2 months ago and am almost at 4K views with 800+ Hours of watch time. Sub for Sub is the most useless approach to take in obtaining any success with YouTube. How often does the subscriber you subbed and subbed to you actually watch your videos and comments. Pretty much for a day or two and then they are now just a number.

The best subscribers are the ones who are actually interested in your content/channel, that consistently watch your videos and actually interact with you. They are the people you want around as that audience is the real audience you want. Just work hard and success will come. YouTube is a hard world sometimes but dedication and hard work is how it is done

Yup! These people can’t even think about this as job. I started my channel as a hobby and I love creating them, after I show friends and family I stare at them while watching the videos I create and I see endless smiles. You start feeling like it’s a job when people start asking you to put up more videos, that they want to see more and your not putting out enough. For definite. I've always wanted to gain some pocket money from YouTube however. But I wasn't going to get much anymore so I pretty much have nothing to lose anyway. I can understand bigger creators but for me this (money problem) does not conflict much.

Exactly. When you actually care about your videos they will come out good. If your just throwing something up and just posting it everywhere it’s just going to get annoying. This is a hobby for me and I just wanna show people my life behind a lense especially where I’m from I don’t see anyone doing it. So that’s what I’m brining differently to the table. I've 25 subscribers at the minute but they are 25 people who subbed because they thought my content was worth watching. That's better than people subbing for the sake of me subbing back. It's a marathon not a sprint. [emoji106]

I had hoped to eventually get monetized but now I'm seeing the finish line of a marathon turn into an ultra-marathon!

But I was never under any illusions over earning any real money on YT so I'll keep plugging away.The thrill of getting a new subscriber notification on my phone is just as rewarding as earning €0.01 right now

Oh I HATE the whole sub4sub thing because you know it’s coming from a selfish place. Also it’s pointless, you’ll most likely have dead subs. I have nothing against someone being like “hey let’s support each other” I’m all for that, but I’m not going to sub if I’m not going to watch. I MIGHT if you are a great person and I want to watch you grow and see your successes, but if you are gonna use me to make your sub number look better- stop. That does nothing for anyone

For me, YouTube is a side hobby, something that I enjoy doing. At this moment, I dont even know if I want to monetize my videos because as soon as it becomes a job, that is when it starts to become a chore.

Its crazy to see the amount of small channels constantly complaining about the new update and basically exposing their intentions of doing youtube for money and money only. If one genuinely love creating entertainment or any sort of content, this new update basically sets a goal for us all to work hard to accomplish and be rewarded for it. Yes Im trying to stop doing sub for sub cause i realize that 1 right after they sub they unsub and 2 they don't even watch your videos and 3 its wrong. I've been sub 4 sub free for 2 days now and I'm going to continue to be sub for sub free because I know youtube will eventually catch me and I will have to start over and I don't want to do that.

I honestly hate when people ask for sub for sub and hears why. I put a lot of effort and time in videos and it almost feels like an insult when someone says I will sub if you sub to me, I rather have someone sub to me because they like my channel if they don’t like my channel it’s not a big deal it was it is bad half the time the people that ask for sub for sub puts no effort in their videos at. I had someone ask me to check out their channel because their a YouTuber, so I checked it out to see if I liked their content and guess what they had one video of them talking to their mom and I’m thinking they can’t even call themselves a YouTuber because there’s no videos no effort nothing except for that one video. In my opinion you’re not YouTuber until you put effort in your videos, I don’t think a certain amount of views or subscribers make you a content creator it’s all bout the hard work you put in your videos.
