Don't judge by how many subs..

i don't like it when somebody clicks on a video and sees that they only have 100 or lower subs and automatically clicks off of it because they would rather watch somebody who had been doing you tube for 4 years and has at least 500K subs. i am a young channel myself and even if i were BIG i would still watch young channels. be completely honest, but leave a reply if u have ever judged somebody by how many subs they have. because they could be the best you tuber u have ever seen but u wouldn't know because u judged them by there subs...

I think its one of the sad truths that people make quick judgements based on statistics, their logic is like first impressions, if other people aren't watching it or subscribed then it cant be all that good choosing more established videos with more views which really does it make harder for newer channels, it gets worse when you consider how far down the search rankings they need to go before even seeing your thumbnail.

I cannot blame them for thinking like that still, if you see a video with 3 views from a person who's just searchings perspective you would probably assume it isnt as good as the one with 3 million and ignore it. I think its also partially why so many channels never take off, they make great content, have excellent SEO, upload consistently but they cannot perform anywhere near as well as the more established channels and that leads to them giving up.

The only thing that you can do is do things better and keep doing them better and eventually take off because of that. It is the same with websites in Google search, new websites struggle to outrank more popular websites but when they find a niche and try to establish themselves in it they do things better and keep doing it until they are eventually overtaking the sites they only dreamt of outranking, it is possible but is a long hard ride to get there for many.

People fail to realize Subscriber numbers have nothing to do with quality of videos or a channel. Its all about exposure. Cant get subscribers without exposure. I see plenty of small channels with great content all the time.

For me it is the quality of the audio, the language they are speaking (By language I mean swearing) and humor.
I also whant the video to be some what of educational in the game universe if it is a solo project. When there are multiple people I watch it for the conversation mostly.

I took a quick look at your current highlighted video (Pizza Spleef), and I heard "And you still have that gay skin". Call me old fashioned, but that kind of language is what puts me off, specially if it is that early in a video and not brushed away by a joke and never mentioned again.

Just my two cents.

(By no means am I saying I am any better, this is just what I myself are trying to do)

I'd have to agree.
Youtubers should be judged by their content, not some kind of number.
Unfortunately, I think it's part of human nature to "judge a book by its cover".
People are attracted to attractive things, its exterior.
For a video, it's just the view count. For a channel, its sub count.
It sucks, but it's life.

Audio Quality is what does it for me, If the video contains 90% of that "SHHHHHHHHHH" Sounds I'm clicking off.

I've skipped many a video before because of lower subs/views vs another video not giving it a chance. When I have time, I check out the smaller channels much more often, but usually I'm in a rush to find a bit of information, so the probability that I will find it on the larger channel is higher making it the logical choice when I am pressed for time.

So I'm as guilty as anyone at skipping small channels. However, when I do have time, and especially in my own niche market for the game I post on, I love to find a small channel with good content. I found most of them simply because they were active members of the community in the forum, in game or through YouTube comments/pm's. And, I've very proud to be able to say that I have helped promote at least 6 channels to more than 1k subs and brought them to the same network I'm with.

Give it some time, learn the ropes, and always have more fun creating your videos than watching your subs and views go up. YouTube is a wonderful community and I'm not just talking about the content creators. I've found the entire community to be like a second family, just an internet one :P

To keep this simple people have short attention span and don't like to "waste time" (in quote because honestly most people waste time by watching youtube videos). So they assume that if you're new you might not be good at this and click off. and then if youve been doing this for a while, you've had time to suck, get better, learn from doing it for a while and are now ready for theyre viewing. It is dumb. I'm just saying that's how most people think.
I do something similar. If I click on a video and it has more dislikes than likes my tolerance for the video shrinks dramatically. While if I click on a video and it has way more likes then dislikes, I'm more inclined to sit through a boring/slow paced video. You should watch PBSIdeaChannel's newest video about how were are all clones. . . I think it might explain better what i think.
