Does YouTube Penalize You For Uploading a New Video?

Posting Mad!
I have a somewhat popular "medium-small" sized YouTube channel. There is something I have noticed over the past couple of months. I average about 5,000 views a day. Due to my day job schedule sometimes I cannot release a video for sometimes 5-7 days. During this period my views more or less stay steady. The funny thing that occurs happens when I release a video. I share my videos and I get a majority of the initial views from embedded links in other websites. I might get a few thousand views from these sources. What I've noticed is on the days where these videos are released the views I get from "youtube" drop to the point that I still get 5,000 views no matter what I do. I just released a popular video that has gotten almost 5,000 views today from embedded links, I will see if my observation continues. Has anyone else experienced this?

My channel isn't as big as yours (550 subs) and I haven't noticed this.

I haven't seen anything like that, but it's common for your previous videos to take a dump when you release a new one because it drops down one spot on your channel page. Anything below the fold (where you have to scroll to view it) will take a big hit.

I think it is a phenomenon that affects channels of my size. In my experience the vids that drop below the fold take a few weeks to gain steam from suggested videos, meaning they aren't getting enough views to affect the numbers like I am experiencing. Maybe I should just try and post more ( what I am trying to do anyways). It's almost like the YT algorithms realize there are only so many views to go around.[DOUBLEPOST=1386301749,1386301573][/DOUBLEPOST]

One other point, you have a vast "catalog" of videos, I don't. It might be happening to you on a very small scale. The difference being you have so many vids you'd never notice it happening. Congrats again on your 200k subscriber milestone.
