Does Political Correctness affect your Channel Choices?

SO..... who fears the social justice warriors? Who wont touch a topic or joke about something because you fear the comments might explode on your video with arguments?

Some channels thrive on this, talking about race or feminism or "Dear Fat People" or whatever it may be, to get attention....

What's your take... honestly, I think everyone gets a little too offended these days... if you're gonna be that touchy and read into everything, the internet is going to be a very offensive place for you ;)

What do you guys think?

So long as it's not a universally bad opinion, I don't think people should be silenced.

I got to University and social justice is very popular there. I get that it's trying to help, but sometimes I think it does more harm than good in an attempt to help people who have been mistreated in the past - I come under some of their clauses being gay (as well as some other personal life experience), but I've never really felt that it's helped me in any way.

Prefer it if people just chilled out and respected that everyone has a different ideology (or lack of, that's totally cool too), instead of feeling attacked whenever someone disagrees with their gospel.

Couldn't agree more.... good point... I feel sometimes people aren't even involved in the problem, stand up for a problem, make a ruckus about the problem.... and end up making more of a problem, or making it a bigger deal than it really is.... idk, just my opinion

There are moments to be serious and moment in which you can relax and let jokes go out, they might be stereotypical and offensive at times, but they are not said with the intent to offend. The matter is people don't understand that, sometimes it seems they WANT to be offended by something even on other people's behalf, and these other people might not care less. That's probably the main point of the so called "Social Justice Warriors", lack of sense of humor.

Also, while not an expert on the subjects, this increase in these situations might be the result of failed parenthood, you know the kind of parents that give victory to their sons on everything? When the spoiled sons then faces the real world they don't have any way to overcome or defend themselves from the difficulties, and the only thing they can do is to complain, and when the majority complains everyone else must adapt.

On the topic of my channel and my thoughts, I try to configure myself as a "super partes" person, so while I support one side, I will explain (or try to explain) the matter from the other side's point of view as well and try to find a balance between the the points both sides bring, because extremists exist in both sides of an argument, let's remember that.

Now that I think of it, I am an heterosexual white male, so for many Social Justice Warriors my opinion doesn't matter!

there is a big difference between satire and being a flaming douche. People see the difference and it is a fine line to walk. I personally like racy jokes and use them but i am mindful because a majority of my "subs" are European and i do realize that their cultural values are different than mine.

I don't think its right to be purposefully rude to someone or about something. The biggest problem people either get offended too easily or people are too scared to offend people. There's nothing wrong with saying an 'offensive' joke has long as you aren't just doing it too offend people. The way I approach it is that if I wouldn't want someone to say it about me then I won't say it about someone else. For example I will never look down and will always respect what others like but I can make jokes about it since that's what I'm okay with personally. There's just a difference between a joke and insulting someone.

Defining that difference is the hard bit since each person thinks differently. Personally I will give someone the benefit of the doubt three times before I start getting properly p****d.

I agree with where you guys are going with this... I mean, if someone is deliberately being an a** to p**s someone off with a touchy subject, that's a problem, but a harmless joke that people flip out about is not cool

Our channel - our rules!
Last year we did Korean restaurant review even though we knew that our channel has the ability to attract ultra-right Japanese viewers (and they tend to have issue with Korea and China).
We lost half of our likes and we got some extra dislikes - but who cares. :)

Well the dislike button is there for a reason right? It doesn't mean the end of the world and it's a much better way for your audience to communicate their feelings of the video instead of a comment like "Oh my god you piece of s**t go die".

But of course, people are still posting these comments anyways, haha.... sad
