does not allowing comments have any negative effect on my account?

does anyone here know if not allowing comments can be damaging in anyway to your videos progress?
I mean it shouldn't but it would make my life a heck of a lot easier with all these rows going on and abusive stuff etc?
But will it hurt things in anyway?

Having comments off makes it hard to see what your audience likes about the video and what they don't like about it. If people are being rude or something block them from your channel. So it may hurt your channel but it may not also.
 
i asked myself this question a couple of times and i use to think in a way it can but i don't want ton of spam of comments on my channel i was thinking a while ago to make comments awaiting for my approval before being posted.:cool:
 
In my opinion turning off comments completely kills what YouTube is about; and that's community, I think the comments are very important because they let you connect with your audience, and more importantly, them to connect with you. They also allow discussions between YouTubers who watch the video which keeps on bringing them back to the video to reply. Disabling comments is cutting off your audience, and yes I do believe it impacts negatively on your videos if you do it.

I kind of know the type of comments to expect by now but feel each day i log on to see rows and people trying to goad me, rows etc.
What i mean is does it effect the algorythm does it affect adverts etc.
There is no evidence I am just checking?
 
I agree with what Tom said above. The whole YouTube community is about interaction and YouTube itself wouldn't be as much fun or a nicer community without comments. I think you should keep them on, or at least get rid of the ones you don't like :)
 
i am too frightened to get rid of bad comments as some people are very spiteful and you all know the types of trolls who look for a row or dispute. I agree about the community aspect totally but my videos are not really much in the way of debating.
I just feel, hell, i wake up and log in and i get threats and abuse (not all the time but often) and feel life would be easy if i just had it all cleanly free.
but does comments help the serps for a video? keywords in the comments?
does it affect monestised aspects in anyway?

No it doesn't affect the algorithm or adverts directly as far as I know, but it will definitely impact on your views because people will be a lot less likely to share them and there will be less activity in general on your videos which will probably mean they get put lower down in the search by YouTube. (just a guess for that one though :P)
