Does it get easier?

It takes time, man. If you keep pushing through no matter what, you'll get the results you're looking for a lot sooner. Look at the people who have really made it. It didn't take them a year, or 2 years, it took them a lot longer. Be patient, keep grinding, and it will work. I have 19 videos...I always kick myself because i should have 1900 by now!

I know I had to slow down - when I first started I was doing a video a week, and stressing over recording, mixing, and editing everything was too much for me to handle. I scaled back to 1 video every two weeks and I started enjoying the process a lot more, so definitely pacing yourself so you stay motivated and don't get burnt out is great advice.

It gets easier, and I agree: You pretty much DO have to make YouTube a business--your business. Even still, whether you have 1000 subs or 100k subs, always have the mindset that you only have 1 sub :]

100 subs here so I can't speak from 1k experience, and I'm still fairly new overall, but I've found that it's a little easier - before 100 you'd get maybe one or two at a time, but by now I might get more than three in a good day. I could just be projecting my own belief that it gets easier to grow, though, since I've had peaks when first starting and when first joining YT talks, etc. I guess I'll come back with more updates as I grow :p

YouTube is a commitment. It takes time to grow. Any of the biggest YouTubers out there will tell you the exact same thing. It will get easier, but the time it takes to get there is entirely dependant on your channel so there's no real way of guessing when, I'm afraid.

After a while, you'll get into a routine of sorts when it comes to promotion and it won't seem as much of a chore as it used to. You've just got to make sure your heart's still in it. That's the most important part.

I like that advice. Some of the big guys become a bit arrogant when they have hundreds of thousands of subscribers... they stop caring and don't reply to any comments etc. I know it must be difficult to reply to comments when thousands come in every day, but I think it's important to at least skim through and reply to those that have taken the trouble to write nice well thought out messages.

Then again, it can't be nice to skim through and see all the nasty ones in-between... might put you off, even though they are only a small percentage of the total. Not sure how I would handle it... must be quite a strain knowing you have a million or millions of subs to please on a regular basis, yikes. :eeks: I guess by the time that happens you would have learned how to deal with the pressure. What we would try and do is make videos for those who regularly watch and appreciate our content and not worry about the nasties... they can watch if they want but won't lose sleep over them.
