I was wondering how many of you make videos without your face. Do you just block out your face or have any other cool tricks so every video isnt just a slide show of still photos? I see a bunch of people with animation videos but no idea how to do that.

Depend on the type of content you made tbh. I don't show my face, I may one day now idea. But I prefer to use what's on screen and my voice more to get a point I make or even just add some comedy parts. My rule is if doesn't add something to your videos don't use it.

it really depends on what kind of content you are producing

may I add and your character, shy or not. Overthinking about body language or fat or anything...
Some times I have included some body parts, a hand, legs walking whatever if needed but not the face.
(...although you see my face in the avatar... hahaha!)

It is interesting you posted this question as long as every year a assemble little by little an annual video
and for this year I already got some camera dropping or adjusting scenes that I would love to include
but this would include my face and full body. A hard decision for some people including me.

:)

I started YouTube in 2009 and didn't show my face until about 2015 or maybe 2016. After I started "appearing" in my videos my channel really started growing. Showing your face gives people something to connect with and makes them more apt to hit the subscribe button.

Just took a look at your trailer video and here is my advice to improve engagement in your videos
  • Use video edition tools to zoom the images slowly while talking
  • Use other images that are related to what you are talking about(add the slow zoom effect Too)
  • There are many royalty free videos on related topics you could use
  • or just buy any animation tool play with it for a few days and you will figure out how to make simple animated videos that will tell your story.
  • You can also use a screen capture tool like the one I use for my videos to capture the screen (for example capturing the post Kathy Griffin made that you thing requires arrest)
Hope that helps

I do. I don't even own a camera. I don't film anything. It's all voice over an avatar.

There's a food review channel called Junkfood Junction out of Canada that makes faceless food reviews and his stuff is pretty good quality. You should check it out. I've done a collab with him once. Nice guy!
