Writing scripts can be good for not missing points, but I think it's more important to be natural than a perfectionist. People will appreciate someone treating them like friends, not an audience. Just my thought though

I dont mean missing points to be a perfectionist, far from it. I mean when you are talking about a topic that may be divisive "like a theory about your fav show or movie ect..." Sometimes when you 'go natural' its not until after you review the footage you think of a great point that would have re-enforced your argument....

Natural is better, but I suppose one of my favorite youtubers Maddox is all scripted, so I guess people that like the scripted TV format style will find you and be drawn to it either way.

I usually try to stick to a script with my longer, more story oriented shorts.

However, it is fun to sometime break away from the routine and just make something off the top of your head.
Even if the story is probably incoherent by the end of it haha.

Agree Sopada,

Sometimes a topic is better suited to a script other times an off the cuff video is what is needed.

I find if Im ranting about a general topic like the problems with Australian politics, its best to be scripted.
However if Im ranting about something trivial that just annoys me, like parents with prams or an annoying TV add then off the top of my head feels like the right way to go.

Some videos are best to script, some to improvise and be spontaneous. I think both are very different and I had to get good at each one separately :)

As a gaming channel I rarely script. But when I do its because I want to make a concise point. It's mainly just talking freely and I edit in funny things on the fly when I wath back.

I don't script any of my videos. I prefer to just go with it and see what happens. I would only script something if it was a skit or something of that nature.

For some how-to or shortfilm and random videos I do scripts as I want to bring a message to the viewer in those videos and I'd fail otherwise with not making a script.
In my gaming videos I use no script and just improvise on the spot. Since I am not a native english speaker I find it hard to give an interesting or funny commentary to listen to and that's what I'm trying to improve on as I now look back to episodes and wish I made a joke here or said something there... but my language barrier is just restricting that... it frustrates me actually.
