Do you subscribe to yourself?

I'm stuck with a dilemma with this:

Pro - I want to subscribe to make my channel hopefully pop up where people can see it (when they visit the channel)

Con - I want all my subscribers to be unique

I sub to my channels with my other channels, yeah. But that's because my subscriptions are publicly viewable, and I'd like to drive cross-promotion. Plus, what's a few inactive subs in the grand scheme of things?

Yup, and it's also useful to check if your subscriptions are being sent out or if you want to add a new channel to Social Blade / VidStatX / ChannelMeter right away.

Or to just surprise yourself when a scheduled upload, that you didn't even remember, goes live and you suddenly see your face popping up in your sub feed / box while you're minding your own business, just casually watching YouTube vids...

I think subscribing to oneself sounds a little like high-fiving yourself or liking your own status' on Facebook or something. Just a bit conceited, maybe? I don't know what the right word is.

I can see the benefit in it. Sometimes youtube can get a bit iffy, so you'll be able to tell if there's something wrong if you were subbed to yourself. Let me try an do this right now
