Do you send Message to your Subscribers?

I was wondering... I started my channel with cute automated messages to my subscribers so they could feel special and welcomed on my channel, but then my friend told me: "oh, you send spams for your subscribers?" and now I don't know if it is a good idea.
I subscribed to many channels and I never got a message from them that they actually CARE that I subscribed, and I personally think it would be a nice gesture to get a message from...I dunno... Markiplier that he is happy that I subscribed, even if I know it is automated.
What do you think?
 
Well that will be a good idea, two of the channels I subscribed, they left the comment on my channel that they appreciate for my subscription! I think if message could do that, possibly a good idea :D
 
Your friend is wrong. You aren't sending spam for subscribers, because they already subscribed and you are just sending them a nice message. They are fine. Just keep doing it :)

I usually do something like this... New Subs, I'll check out their channel and poke around see some videos, comment somewhere on their work and letting them know I checked them out... and if I like what they are doing I'll sub back... I TRY to do this, but I'm always so busy.... but yeah, wasn't aware that you could do that on YouTube... I send automated tweets at people when they follow me on twitter... and like 1 of ever fourth person who follows me will retweet it or favorite it

people realize you're busy so I think "welcome" messages on social networks are not considered spam in most people's eyes
 
OK maybe I confused it with twitter...omg sorry.... I did send my subscribers messages, I just saved the text in a doc XDD almost automated, right?
But the question is the same, is it a spam, or is it worth it? But as I can see, some of you are doing it, and all of you think it is a good idea, so I'm going to keep sending them :)

All good man xD and especially on YouTube to have a creator message you for subscribing makes fans feel real warm and bubbly inside so far far from spam ^_^
 
I'll go and personally thank them myself, but I don't think an automated message is bad either though. It just takes forever for me to see who the new subs are because analytics lag a lot.
