Do you personally thank new subscribers?

i remember i was starting to get this strong urge to make videos, and i would daydream about what my videos might be like, and i kept saying i want to do it. lol

Yeah. A large part of your content is how others perceive it, so you never know how exactly it'll turn out. All we can do is hope for the best, I suppose!

well yeah, videos are meant to be watched by people. a lot of people claim they dont care about views or subscribers, but its like, ok i get not compromising yourself for views or subscribers, but if they really didnt care at all, they wouldnt be making videos. theyd just be talking to themselves in the mirror. of course its exciting to see that number go up because it means people liked it. its interesting how you say "a large part of your content is how others perceive it" as if the content actually changes based on how people perceive it. but i guess thats true. peoples opinions of your videos dictate your image, and then your image predisposes how your videos are perceived. so its like a cycle. but all someone can do is be true to themselves and keep making videos that they feel passionately about, and in the end people can either watch or not watch. people who get too obsessed with gaining views and subscribers are just going to drive themselves crazy and never be happy with what they have anyway.

Yeah, if it wasn't for them, you wouldn't be talking to anybody, and there wouldn't be much of a point to you making videos. It's not very productive for your channel.

I do that. Now is the time when I can still do it - think of how all these big youtubers started out, some of them probably sent personal messages thanking people, now they have to make videos for that, because of the huge amounts of new subscribers. Anyway, when I do send a message, I try to make it at least a little more personal, because no one really cares if you just say "Thanks for subscribing! Hope you like my future videos!", I know I wouldn't.

I used to thank everyone for subscribing, but have cut down on that and instead am focusing on answering all of my video and channel comments. I figured people would rather get replies on their comments than be thanked for subscribing (since I only have time for one or the other right now).

I've always thought it was nice when people I subscribed to would send even just a brief "thank you" note, makes it feel more like there's a real person on the other end. (I watch and deal mainly in gaming videos so real human faces in the videos are more rare.) So for now, while my channel is small, I do leave a comment on new subscribers' channel page thanking them. If they make videos that I like I'll mention that, and if they subscribed from a particular video of mine I'll add something along the lines of "Another episode of <SERIES NAME> will be out next <WEEKDAY>!" as that feels like information that might be helpful and encourage them to check back that day.

I have no idea if any of that actually helps or if people like it, but I don't expect them to reply, and it doesn't feel spammy to me at all.

Yes I decided to start thanking new subbies last weekend, I know I like it when people I subscribe to send me a message or reply my comments. I will try to keep it up.
