Do you personally thank new subscribers?

Will sub for food
I started sending a message to new subscribers thanking them for subscribing (basically "thanks for subscribing! Please share with your friends! Have a great day!"). Is this considered spam or a kind gesture?

I think its fine, the only part people might consider spam is suggesting they share it with their friends which does kinda make it sound less personal and perhaps more automated. If I was to do that I would just thank them for subscribing and perhaps mention something about their channel if I liked their videos, if not though I would just thank them and wish them a good day, I would definitely not make the mistake of sending it twice :D

i only do that if they left me a message saying they subscribed. then ill be like thanks for subscribing. but i understand some ppl might not want to get interactive, and thats fine. i wouldnt want to bother anyone. although i always welcome my viewers to be interactive on my channel, if its not something that someone wants to do, thats their decision and i respect it. some people just like to watch the videos and not leave comments or anything. i wouldnt want to lose subscribers by being pushy, like, my videos are not their life. they probably saw a couple videos, liked them, and clicked subscribe, and if im all of a sudden leaving comments on their page im afraid i might turn them off. i try to treat each viewer the way they seem to want to be treated and give them respect as individuals, so if someone wants to leave comments i respond to them. if someone writes in my feed, ill write in theirs.

oh but if i see that person makes videos, i might check them out and leave comments on their videos, if they seem interesting to me. and if i like what they do, i may subscribe back.

Yeah, some people don't like to get involved with and interact with their content creators. They enjoy remaining faceless towards them.

i was watching youtube videos for a long time before i ever started actually leaving comments on videos. then eventually somehow i got really into it, and here i am today, making my own videos.
