Do You Keep Up With the Trends On Youtube?

I think following trends is fine if your viewers request something and you want to do it. Doing what everyone else is doing won't necessarily get you views or more people to your channel though because usually there's such an oversaturation of those videos people won't necessarily find yours. It's important to keep up but not just do what everyone else is doing.
 
If you look at Jonah Green, his videos are an example of doing ones that he wants to do, but are still up to date without following the trends, if that makes sense

If you do, then maybe you could ask your viewers what type of videos they would like to see exactly (like tags or what not), so you have an idea of what they're expecting. As for how to find out about trends, you can always check other youtubers from your niche or Google Trends or Twitter's most popular hastags... just a few ideas :)

I teach mental health and personal success. I Honestly do not know who is doing something similar because I never want to be influenced by what they do so I never looked them up. And honestly, I don't want to do the trends, but I asked my viewers if they have any suggestions for things I can do to market myself more and this was a suggestion so I thought I would at least look into it. I have been on YT for 7 years and only have 1400 subs. When people find me they LOVE me but I am not out there enough and I don't do do comedy or entertainment so...No one is looking for me unless they are in trouble emotionally.
 
We try to do our own thing but we also will listen to our audience and take that into consideration. So, some trends do end up working their way to our channel. But trend-chasing as a means of YouTubing would be frustrating and not very fulfilling. You like to make your own stamp on things, ya know?
 
It has to be something REALLY interesting for me to care.... I was almost gonna try the Ice Water Challenge but naw. I don't really follow the trends, but I kinda keep up with what's new related to comic books and anime and such.
 
Social media keeps me pretty well updated but that's on a personal level. Sometimes I'll bring that over onto my channel with things like current challenges and what not. Or at least, I'm going to start doing these challenges :)
 
Only partially. I'm not the kind of person that jumps on every single bandwagon, but if there is something that interests me, I go for it
