The YT people I talk to regularly are people I've met on forums. Some I found through videos they posted, others have messaged me with something other than "hey. check out my channel" so I knew they were interested in more than just self promotion. Yeah we watch and comment on each others videos. Not necessarily every video (nor would I expect them to). And some I have talked to occasionally on Twitter. :)
 
I've talked to various people on YT, but there is really only 1 person that has stuck. He emailed me one day and we kept talking about various things, and became friend. Now we are trying to help each other grow on YT. It's pretty cool stuff!
 
I don't have any Youtube friends :(
I want to have them, I'm just very shy and socially awkward and don't really know how to go about it...

I see you're on Twitter! Try following even more people and reach out to them more regularly? There's no need to be shy, we're all a part of the same community :)
 
Yeah, I've got a couple YouTube friends myself. I'm actually going to be collaborating with one pretty soon who's not a member of this site though i have told him about it.
Then there's also @konisbored and @CrimMaya who I've enjoyed talking with too.


Oh, and you forgot about little old me, @Lightsen. I know we're not collaborating or anything, but we've had our fair share of chats too :P

and now I've just started getting to know 'JaidenAnimations' who is a really lovely person too.

In my case, they all made the first contact, im not really one for starting conversations, but I'm super glad I have met them :D we all talk on Skype and elsewhere.

This is an important thread. I have two good YouTube friends and one who is going from acquaintance to friend. It starts with comments on each other's videos and then Twitter DMs or the equivalent. Eventually it can lead to collabs and great, supportive talks. I am socially introverted, so getting this going isn't easy for me, but I am so happy that people whose channels I like and who like me have become friends thanks to them being normal and me being less socially awkward. Just go for it.
