Do you have an accountant?

I've Got It
Do you have one for your YouTube channel? I was thinking about getting one when I start my non-profit. Right now I just have my vlogging channel.

My friends are accountants so they help me out for my tax purposes. However, I haven't looked into what I need to do for tax purposes that's a bit more complicated, but I feel like you have to make a certain amount until it becomes a MUST to claim your youtube income.

I tend to do my own accounting. I have enough knowledge in it as my dad was in that business...

If my Youtube income exceeded 6-figures annually, I'd think about it and start shopping around some options because taxes and write-offs can be a real nightmare at that level.

I doubt that will ever happen, though, so I'm not too worried about it.

What would you possibly need an accountant for. It probably costs you more than he somehow manages to save. I don't know much about US tax system though, but in my country it's just a matter of filling in what I made a year and the little tax application does all the math.

I guess maybe if you're going at it as a company it might be more complex but still, I highly doubt an accountant is worth it.

Can confirm the tax system in the US is an absolute nightmare as a freelancer or self-employed person like you would be for Youtube. The tax rate is exponentially higher for contractors like that, so you have to get gains wherever you can with a variety of tax breaks that exist. You can do it all yourself but it takes hours and you cannot screw it up or they audit you and you lose everything.

For people with normal jobs it's pretty much like what you said, though. You just check off 'standard deduction' and they do the math for you. Most jobs take out taxes from your paycheck ahead of time so you actually end up getting money back if you have deductions.

I just cant trust someone else with my money. Not even a bank. Im not taking any chances especially after the great depression i dont care how likely it is to happen agian. Im keeping all my money

I do not have a accountant in real life to deal with taxes...I have a TAX guy to deal with taxes. Lol Our taxes...range from 20,000 dollars a year or so...I can assure you, you really don't need an accountant for a youtube channel. Tax guy? yeah maybe.
