Do thumbnails help gain views?

I'm gonna be honest...good job. I am incredibly tempted to click it, I'm just afraid of what will happen if I do...

It gets the point across and definitely gets the attention of the type of people we want watching our videos.

If you can get your thumbnail to complement the title, even better. This is a good example that is used by YouTube in an audience development workshop:

As others said before, it's better to have a thumbnail as it does look like there's more production involved and people generally like it when you put time into things.

Thumbnails are insanely important.

Before everyone could be partnered, only partners could have thumbnails and YT was notorious for choosing the 3 WORST images from your video to use as a thumbnail for non partners.

Thumbnails are very important. When you're showing your cards, I would try to get as close as you can to the card so that you get the largest image possible of the character. If you can avoid having your hands in the thumbnail image, that would help too.

Yes. It tends to draw people to the video. A person can have the blandest video in existence, but will still get views because of the thumbnail, lol.

Thumbnails definitely help you get more views! This is because (obviously) people will click on the video that looks more appealing... i.e. the one with the most interesting thumbnail. I would say thumbnails are just as important as the title, if not more. :D

Without a doubt they help, I learnt how to do them properly so they look really eye catching. It only takes me around 5 minutes to create a decent thumbnail from scratch and I am not that creative at all, so if you know how to do it then go for it!!
