not all the time... I have seen some people with 1,000 subscribers but no content???? but yeah profile picture matters I should change mine soon

I actually tried this it was an experiment of mine. I posted a picture of some cute girl and guys started subscribing and commenting on my videos, after 1 week I got the results I was looking for, and changed back my profile picture. My channel was already a bit known, but through what I've seen it actually works, but not as effective as you'll like it to.
 
I think profile picure, banner and thumbnails are very important. They encourage people to check your channel and stuff you make. :)
Also your banner is awesome!

Lol... I do think the profile picture matters I have definitely clicked on people JUST because of a cool profile pic
 
I put a purikura on my profile picture because they are cute and very japanese. I think they say showing your face is better. People are more likely to click if you comment somewhere if you look like a real person not a logo that might not expalin anything about your channel :yttalk:
 
I think they can help but they're not essential, i've seen channels with poor channel designs yet they have strong active fanbases
 
Look at my name. Then look at my profile picture.

Since I comment literally everywhere, people wonder who this mysterious kitty is and go to my channel. Had a few people tell me they found me this way and subbed not only because of the videos, but also the picture and personality in the comments.
 
The avatar has to match your channel style. Your channel must have a certain style for people to really be attracted to clicking that subscribe button.
A person who feels like a channel is LOOKING good will most likely subscribe if your content is also good.
