Do people who create commentry over game make a script?

YTtalk Mad
Hey guys, i'm not a guy who can talk constantly for over 3 mins, but yet some guys can. For example Levelcap does allot of bf4 Gun reviews, is this a script hes written up as such or a basic guide?.

Thanks guys!

I'd say it's always a good idea to at the very least jot a couple of keypoints down on which you can build your banter. Completely writing it out could be good as well but might come across as forced. You should try out a couple of different thing and settle on what you find works best for you.

If you're doing a lets play, it's best not to use a script and just babble yourself. It's not easy to do and most people don't realize the amount of effort it takes to play a game strategically and talk at the same time.

If you're doing gun reviews and such you would usually have a script, or at least a few important points, since these videos are usually highly informative and require a lot of information in the span of a few minutes.

Yep i know lets play are live commentary and people like to connect to your own reactions =] and thoughts

Maybe keywords might be there to be reminded what to talk about but for the most part i'd guess it's from the top of their head, making it feel natural too :)

The first time you do any commentary, you will have trouble getting past a few minutes. Lets plays are especially hard, because it is hard to find things to talk about. I would start with gameplay commentaries until you are comfortable enough to move to lets plays. Also, lets plays tend to get very low views on channels without established subscriber bases, because they are very hard to optimize for searches. I have always just taken a few notes or just thought in my mind what I would talk about. Some commentators go as far as only recording around 30 seconds at a time of audio then put all the thoughts together. A good example of this is MinnesotaBurns in his "Hate Mail" series. Sometimes you can hear a mouse click or some weird pauses. That is where he stopped recording. If you write the whole thing down, it can start to sound very bland, so I would avoid that. Also, do not be afraid to start over. Sometimes your first take won't be your best work, and you will need to do it again.

Hey dude thanks for helpful reply =].

Yea i agree with you, with me i started this channel of as mainly featuring bf4 but due to computer issues :P, i decided for now to make it a Lets play channel.

I don't care to much for views atm, because i want to improve my voice in every video I do, that's mainly why i started to improve my confidence in myself speaking to myself? (:P).

I dunno about game play commentaries due to the fact i'm a gamer who likes to move around games allot, i'm not a single type gamer who can spend over 100 hours on games. I love creativity and new technology involved with game making and playing =]. But i think eventually i will be doing commentary's as well.

One of my recent fav videos was Stampylonghead
1 Million Subscribers Special - From Then To Now

Video - it shows you how mutch change people make over the years etc

When doing reviews I definitely script it as I need to make sure I cover as many of the correct points as possible and don't derail/rant. Gun reviews might be a little different, if you're planning on do it too I'd suggest a script as it's the kind of thing you really need to know. Like you'd need to know your guns to be able to just review 1 on the spot, since BF4 uses guns that are used by military. But some people like StoneMountain64 learnt the guns in stuff like CoD which also use fictional weapons.
