Do New Comments = New Subscribers?

In my experience, when I get a new comment on a video from someone who has never commented before, They usually end up subscribing... either right away when they comment... or after a little banter back and fourth from me replying to their comment....

Has this been the case for you? Does anybody else feel like they've observed a similar correlation between the two?

In my experience, commenting has no correlation with subscrption. but commenting is also part of the youtube SEO, so getting comment is better for your ranking compare to no comment.

I've had a few of my subs come that way, I don't think much of it when they sub after commenting, I just assume they liked my work. But honestly
I prefer subs that I was able to banter with over a video. Not to many people seem to talk so I enjoy when I can get a conversation from an outside
perspective, not even to improve. But I think I'm just weird XD

Yes, certainly seems to be the case most of the time when the comment is a little more direct and detailed rather than something random like "bewwwwwbs" >.<

I've only had 1 or 2 comments with the whole "your contents similar to mine come and check it out". I tend to ignore those ones but whenever someone actually does comment I respond ASAP

I would say so, yes, in 95% of cases. But I've already had people comment (positively) who were never seen again, and people who indicated they were "observing" my channel and subscribed weeks later.
