Do looks matter when it comes to YouTube?

Guys can kinda get away with it, unless they're like super freaky ugly or whatever (no offense). I feel that women have it tougher. If they're not hot or aren't showing cleavage, they'll get lots of negative and insulting comments. And if they are hot, they'll get pervy and 'tits or GTFO' comments. I've seen girls that, frankly, talk about nothing and are completely boring and whatnot... yet they're cute and you can see them jiggle when they move or whatever, so BAM, thousands of views and hits.
I actually agree with the whole having to be hot, but when the girl is hot or attractive or showing cleavage, they are an instant hit, it seems like the prettier girls have it so much easier on youtube than an average girl or a ugly girl, its terrible but thats what a p***s will do to you :(

Yeah, never said it was fair.. but that's how it is, I guess. I've seen girls that are cute but I guess not what you'd considered hot that have decent things to say, but they have few views and subs. Cute young blonde teen in a tank top talking bout how much lipstick she bought, over nine thousand views.

"Do looks matter when it comes to YouTube?"

Often is does. However, anybody with something interesting to share can do well on YouTube. Also, although being pretty or handsome helps just like everywhere in life but being attractive might work at first but in the long run even attractive people have to bring something interesting to the table if they want to stay relevant on YouTube.

I agree but it depends on the niche.

if a guy is talking about health and physical fitness, the stigma is that the guy has to have a great body and six pack abs. For women, as long as they are good looking and "healthy", they get a pass. If it's a gaming niche, nobody cares about what the guy looks like. but if it was a woman gamer, oh lawd will people care, especially if she's good looking.

Overall, for guys, as long as he is informative, proffesional, or entertaining, he will get a pass. For women, they have more added pressure of not just delivering informative, proffesional, or entertaining content, but to also be physically appealing. if the woman has all of the above, she can take over youtube.

Fair point well made :) Still, if you are willingly putting yourself in front of a camera for strangers, it must have gone through your mind you might not get purely positive feedback?

Idk, it is all about opinion whether someone has good looks or not. Some people have the talent and skills that make looks not matter.
