Do I really need a network? VISO / BBTV

I have been approached by the VISO network recently and i did some research. I found a lot of negative opinions and i want to ask if any of you have experience with them?

I am also not sure if a partnership is really worth it in my case, because i'm a fairly small channel (1k+subs) and i make instrumental music, which is not really the most popular genre for content creators + i mainly create instrumental remakes & piano interpretations which i can't monetize anyway.

I'm not really looking for making a lot money, because my views are not relevant in that regard but i am interested in promotion and maybe functions that can help me as a musician on youtube. Are networks benefitial in that case? (e.g. they told me about a library of songs that they want to add in the future, so musicians can cover songs and monitize them) However, while searching for information about the viso network, i found out that they don't focus on musicians primarily.

I just want to make sure, that i am still able to upload the same content when i am in a network, because
i really enjoy what i'm doing right now and i don't know much about networks in general.

What do you guys think? Sorry for my bad english, just in case =)

Thank you!

I think that you should stick to what you are doing now, until you find a network that focuses primarily on musicians. It's not like they would make you change what you upload, but they might not give you the same amount of support as what they give their main focus partners.

I agree on waiting - though music can be tricky. I know AVByte has said that partnership was initially quite important to them, because having a network helped reduce the amount of time it took to revoke the false copyright claims that kept popping up for them.

If you're not living in counter-claim hell though, stick with what you're doin! :)

Yeahh, as a music channel myself, I will agree on waiting or not joining a network all together. I never joined one, and I'm happy I didn't.

Thank you for the information! As suggested by you, i think i will wait for a network that focuses primarily on musicians.[DOUBLEPOST=1381957544,1381955928][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thanks for sharing your experience! I will wait as well, maybe there'll be more networks specificially for musicians in the future but for now it's probably better not to join a network.[DOUBLEPOST=1381958501][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thanks for your feedback! I do get false copyright claims every now and then, but i guess this particular network wouldn't really support me in that regard, because i asked them questions about false copyright claims and the only answer i got was, that i shouldn't upload certain types of music if i want to avoid them. I guess since they do not focus on musicians primarily there won't be much support. I decided to wait for now :)

hmm...glad I see a recent thread involving this as I was approached a couple of days ago by Viso and Broadband network. Said they liked my "history of video games" and how I presented it. Should I go for it? I have 1,455 subs

Personally I disgust TGN (which is part of BBTV) due to a lot of partner support problems and spammy newsletters and such. I either get a response uber-late and incomplete, some random rambling which should have been sent to another person or they don't answer me at all whilst my tickets/emails are uber polite and such.

They especially have stopped responding after I asked to unpartner my channel. BBTV in general might be 'ok', but TGN themselves are just a bunch of immature kids actually running it (I can know due to the fact I was a trial scout, but have quitted due to all the bs going on and such) and do things whenever they feel like.

But yeah, everyone has different experiences, I just say that you should be careful with them.
