Do big youtube personalities get alot of views, because they are famous.

I don't want to be "famous." I just want YouTube to become some type of income, and have someone care about me.

I think big YouTubers continue to grow because people on YouTube are like sheep (look at my avatar :P). It's like a comment on something on facebook; once it has 1 like then a load of other people will see it and like it, it now has 20 likes, soon enough it will have hundreds of thousands of likes. People usually start watching something because it's big anyway. The more subscribers you have, the more you'll be gaining (most likely).

It's because they are good looking. All the big youtubers are good looking. :p
& Yes, it's because they are YT famous. Just the same reason why famous music artist seem to dominate the charts every time they release a new song.

You can do the exact same thing as someone who is more famous, and they will get better results than you probably 9.9/10 times. It's sad, but it's very true /:
That's how everything works sadly, in many places at least.

Whoa, whoa, whoa I feel like there's a lot of jealousy and grumpiness in this thread.
Channels are big because they worked their way to get there. Hating on them is like hating on a person who set up a good retirement fund. They work their butt off to get that retirement fund set off so they don't have to work as hard after. Do they not deserve that?

As for interacting with your viewers, I really think you gotta put it into perspective. Absolutely some bigger youtube channels ignore their viewers, that's them okay. However, to say that you'll be different is pretty unreasonable. Big youtubers can get 5,000+ comments every new video. Let's say it takes a LIGHTNING fast 10 seconds to read and reply to a comment. Or maybe 20 seconds so that the comment is more than just fluff. Average of 15 seconds per comment. Or over 20 hours.

Okay, so let's only respond to 10% of those comments. 2 hours.

1% of those comments, 20 minutes. That seems reasonable right? Except that most of them DO do this, you just don't notice because 1% of 5,000 is only 50 comments.
(And this is just for the initital post of the video, let's not forget about the REST of their social media)

Again these numbers were VERY low for how long a good comment reading/replying takes.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, I guess what I really want to say is that you shouldn't hate or be jealous of bigger youtubers. Instead use it as a beacon of hope for what's to come. Do you want to have to try your butt off for the potential 10+ years you're on youtube? Do you want your whole life to be sucked into it? I don't think so. I think you want to be able to work on your videos 3-5 hours a day or less when you're at the top. I think you want to be able to "retire" on the GRUELING hard work you put in to get to the top.

Lastly, yes there are exceptions to everything. Some youtubers got lucky. Luck is preparation meets opportunity, so always be prepared for opportunities. That doesn't mean that for every lucky tuber there isn't 100 that worked their butt off.

Oh, I wasn't meaning that they didn't work. No. But let's be honest.
A video where say.. PewDiePie is playing with his dog, has alot of views because it's PewDiePie.
They are deservant of that title, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one to notice this.
I used to watch RayWilliamJohnson, and I just recently got up to date with his channel. Boy as he improved.

So in essence, I'm not saying they don't have the right to be where they are, I just wanted to see if my perspective was true.

I like that you edited your first post! :P But I'm sorry if I got aggressive, I just hear this stuff a lot and it makes me sad and frustrated.

To answer your question, big youtubers get big numbers because they're already big and people care a lot about them.

I didn't edit my first post, I think.

RayWJ's entire shtick is stealing other peoples videos and adding in forced memes everywhere.

I mean in terms of video quality, but he gets sent those footage. No one says that about America's Funnies Home Videos do they? So he gets permission to upload them. Again, I didn't mean the idea nor execution. I mean audio quality, video quality, flow, time progression, and transitions.
