Do Accents Impact Your YouTube Success?

Ok so this question's been bothering me for a while now.
Do you think that the accent you speak in has an impact in your ability to do well on YouTube?
Like, do you think you are more likely to click away from a video if you find the accent strange/difficult to understand?
Or do you think it's a good thing, that can be used to your advantage?
I'm from Scotland and I feel I really need to change how I speak in my videos in order for people to even understand me sometimes haha :)
Would genuinely love to hear some people's opinions on this one

There is A TON that goes into someone's appeal to viewers. Accent is one of those things, yes. Just like any other trait though, some value it higher than others. If you are a fangirl of One Direction, anyone else from the UK might start with a leg up.

I think Scottish accents can be pretty amusing, maybe a little hard to understand for anyone who isn't from the UK but we all get you in good old Blighty!

Haha check my latest videos where I speak a lot and you tell me.. If you think my accent is fine I'm sure many others are as well.

Well considering 3 out of 12 Doctor Whos were/are Scottish (yes Tennant chose not to use his brogue for the role, but in interviews and such, fans have come to know and love his accent), I would think that a Scottish accent would be an asset.

I just recently pranked a guy on my channel that people keep saying looks like Will Smith almost and has a golden voice. I swear if this guy started a youtube account, he would take off just because of how clear this guy sounds. So I would almost say yes, if you have an accent but it is understandable and almost in a golden clear sound, you'll have a leg up on the competition.

I'll just leave this here and let you decide...
hahaha amazing. why didnt i think of this?![DOUBLEPOST=1399323841,1399323660][/DOUBLEPOST]

It's weird how your accent takes a while to adapt to, but after a minute or so It sounds fine to listen to, interesting :)

It really depends on the viewers lol I don't even know if I have an accent since I am from Puerto Rico and spanish is my first language but welp It all depends :) I think Scottish accent is pretty awesome ^^
