Hey everyone!
I currently have 17,000 subscribers on my channel.
Up until a couple of months ago, everything was going really well, I was getting an amount of views on my videos which I was happy with, and I had a steady gain of subscribers, and to top it off I was reacted to by a big YouTuber which gave me a few more thousand subscribers.
Then, the subscriber gain started to slow, and I was gaining less, and less each month, and I was quite unsure as to how at all to gain. I tried everything promoting, but just couldn't seem to get the gain. For some reason, a about a month back, my views on my videos started to drop considerably, and with each video uploaded I just received less views. I was only gaining about 30 subs a month, which was horrible compared to my previous stats.
Couple of weeks ago, I made a video expressing my opinions on a variety of topics sent in by viewers, one of which was abortion which I spoke strongly about. This opinion lost me two hundred subscribers.
I uploaded two days ago and have received less views on that video than I have in a long time in the first two days.
I feel like many of the subscribers which came initially from the big youtuber shoutout are beginning to leave as they were told to subscribe, rather than doing so because they actually wanted to. And if they aren't leaving, they're just dead subs.
I forgot to mention that for quite a while now, with each video I upload, I lose subs rather than gaining like normal people. Even before the abortion video.
I also feel like my videos have actually overall quite improved, but still I continue to lose subs.
My question to you is; would it be a terrible idea to create a new channel? To start afresh? I would let my current subscribers know, so my new channel would only have people that actually want to watch my videos, and not a heap of dead subs.
Have you tried starting again, or seen anyone else do it? Is it usually a fail, or a success? Bad or good idea? Just want to hear some other peoples perspectives.
I would hate to lose 17,000 subscribers, but right now they are slipping away anyway, and I have no idea why.
Thanks for your help,
Theo.
