Deleting comments even if it hurts the channel?

As I have a tutorial channel it's hard for me to start a controversy discussion in the comment section. My comment rate is thus much lower than for talking heads who throw issues like religion, abortion or open carry law into the ring.
The more I grow the more I get random comments like "Nice vid bro - wanna check out mine and sub?" that are not even closely related to my content. Although YouTube's ranking algorithm rewards comments I am deleting these but so far I haven't seen that my viewers really appreciate this.
Do you delete such comments or do you keep them to have a higher engagement rank?

I would probably delete those lame comments, I will patiently wait for worthy comments

I only delete comments where people attack other people in my videos. If they attack me I'm fine with it, but if it's my friends or family they can't defend themselves so I delete them.

I always delete those comments, they're just spam. I'd rather have a clean comment section than grow a tiny bit.

I keep almost everything. If there's a discussion going on in one of my videos, I usually think that's a good thing because Youtube is more likely to assume that viewer wants to see my content- meaning I'm more likely to show up their feed.

I would delete comments if they are spams, that doesn´t relate to the video!

Why would making tutorial videos hinder you in having an active conversation in the comments with your fans? You can always implement a question of the day about programs they use, or if they found the tutorial helpful. Heck, you can even just ask questions that aren't related to what you're doing.

The "problem" with tutorials is that people watch them to solve a certain problem and move on instead of having a good time watching videos or having social interaction.
Although I ask questions like you mentioned I "suffer" from this mentality. This is a very common issue for tutorial channels even if they try to engage viewers.

I haven't gotten to the point where I'm getting spam and controversial arguments in my comments. There was one guy who said one of my videos sucked and gave it a 1/10. I just politely told him that I'm sorry he didn't enjoy it, but thanks anyway for watching and commenting.
