Death by Intro

Hey guys, so after a couple weeks of uploading to my new channel I finally have about 700 total views—enough I hoped to be able to get a rough idea of what was going on with it using analytics. My overall retention rates varied between about 17-30% depending on the day and I really wanted to figure out what was going on. To my surprise when I began looking at individual videos I realized that 50-75% (usually closer to 75%) were clicking off my my videos within the first 10-12 seconds. Not good!
Coincidentally enough though, the animated intro that I created is also about 11 seconds long. Could it be? The animated hypnobunny cartoon was scaring away all of the impatient viewers? :(
Anyway, I just went in and trimmed the intro out of my videos using youtube’s editor (hopefully it actually works). Hopefully these videos keep getting enough views so that I can check in a couple more weeks to see if their retention has increased.
Any similar experiences here?

TLDR: Losing 50-75% of viewers within 12 seconds of video start…intro animation also 11-12 seconds long. coincidence?
 
Kill the intro. Kill it now. There's no point. What value does it add? None.
As Tim Schmoyer advises, branded intros should only come after a hook of some kind, and should only be used as a way to reinforce your value as a creator. And they should be less than 5 seconds
tldr; 30 second dubstep/name bouncing/minecraft intros are a waste.
 
Yeah, I've clicked away from long intros, because who has the time? I have a little bumper at the beginning of my videos that's 2 seconds long and gives my channel name, nothing else. Seems to be okay.
 
Get rid of the intro as said above - make the first 5 seconds the hook - 'This is what I'm showing you today & why you need to see it.'

If you need to, slot a few seconds of intro after the hook.

Personally, I've not included an intro as I don't see the point as a small channel.
