Dead subscibers.

I know, somewhere deep down, I still LOVE them.

*epic cry*

But in all seriousness I don't really care about them as they're not contributing. But I won't get rid of them because they make my stats look better than they are.

I'm pretty much with you. If given the choice, I would have every dead sub removed from my list. I'm guessing this would leave me with around 3 or 400 people who actually do still want to watch me. And while it would be better to just know the REAL number of people REALLY following me, seeing that drop from 600 to 300 would probably kill me a little inside LOL. I'd still do it though.
 
The thing is, your subscribers aren't really "dead" if they stop watching you. They could start up again at any point. This has happened to me before, when someone stops watching after a while, but starts up again. YouTube currently deletes dead accounts, so I think that's good, but I don't want them to become unsubscribed from me, because then they'll never have the opportunity to rediscover my content. I don't care about the number though, so if I lost them as a statistic but they still got my videos, and they were recounted if they ever open one, then I'd be fine with that.

I was thinking in a fantastical kind of way. Like if they could remove only the people who for sure would NEVER watch me again.
 
they do have value because it makes the number look high where it encourages other people to want to subscribe to you because they see that the number count is quite high so most likely they would think that "hey, this person might good because many people are subbed to them"

That is true, I've noticed it has that effect as well. However, if sub count gets too much higher than the view count, then people may assume you botted or something, and then be repelled by you. I've experienced that as well.
