Cutting a video without losing views?

I've Got It
Anyone knows if it is possible to cut a portion of the video, using the YT editing tool, without losing my views?

I wasn't aware you lost views... Can I ask why you want to cut the portion out after having already uploaded it?

I didn't lose views. I'm just wondering if the views will remain the same or if i the video will be uploaded as new. I want to cut a few scenes to make it shorter.

Good question! I would upload a dummy/test video, let it get some views, cut some scenes, and see what happens.

That's not even what i'm wondering. I know you can cut it and still keep your view. I just don't know if there's a limit. I know you can have 500 views and keep them. I don't know if you can do the same with a 10k video.

Surely it shouldn't really affect your view count. If you really want to cut the clip then don't worry about the views anyway. Im assuming if you've managed 10k views people would be familiar with your content, and will continue returning. So don't worry about it!

I'm actually just looking for a more straight forwards and knowledgeable answer for this., No speculation, please. Just wondering if someone actually KNOWS if you can your views or not.

Thanks anyway,

  • View count: Video hasn't received over 100,000 views.
  • Time: Video is shorter than two hours.
  • Content ID: Video doesn't have a Content ID match.

Now you answered my question like i was hoping. Thank you very much.

BTW, i think a few months ago the limit was 1000 or something like that.

Glad I could help haha. I've honestly never heard of anything like this before, so I did a bit of research to see what it was all about
