Currently use VideoPad Video Editor for editing, how is Sony vegas?

Apologies for double post but just wish to ask those who know. What would be the most cost effective version of Pro 12 to get, if I would primarily be using it for video editing, to make picture in picture etc... and mix some audio tracks together.

Or it doesn't need to be 12
