Current State of Sub 4 Sub

Hello,
I would like to talk about the current state of Sub 4 Sub websites and how it is affecting the youtube community.
As many of you now there are websites that can increase your subscibers count.
The problem with this is that the channel isnt actually growing because there is no community in the first place.
Thoughts?

I see TONS of channels who use this feature, and they actually like to portray as if they worked for the subs. They'll have like 1700 subs, but only getting 20 views a video. Something isn't adding up. That's why when a lot of these channels as me to collaborate, or give shout outs, I tend to avoid them.

Nothing personal against them, I would just prefer to work with someone who's going to put equal or even more effort than me into a collab video :)

My $0.02

When I first started out I was pretty close to doing this.
Then I cam across this forum and changed a lot of what I thought would be a "good" start.
Earning the subscribers is a lot more gratifying then just saying SUB4SUB and they never come back and most of the time never even check your videos out.

It's silly and really makes no sense.

I can understand why some people might think they're the way forward. While I'm a person who says subscribers don't matter, it is nice to have an audience of people who do watch my videos and generally more subscribers = more views.
I think the people who use them have maybe missed the point though, subscribers don't really mean anything if they don't engage and finding ways to warp the figures isn't going to create better content or make people want to watch.

Sub4 Sub might get your channel to look big because a lot of subscribers but then you look at the views and they are really low since most of the subscribers wont watch the content and they will become dead subs.

Some people perceive a certain channel better if they see high sub count. So it may be beneficial in a way.

Yea, it actually hurts your channel more. Since Youtube's algorithm is heavily based on watch-time now, even if your subs click your videos, if they don't watch them all the way through it actually lowers your search rank which impacts your growth even more. It's a good way to ensure your channel gets nowhere, basically.

It is a waste of time, sadly if you dont sub4sub you still get subbed to in hope of you subscribing back and get some dead subscribers that way but at least you arent seeking them and bringing more of them to your channel deliberately :D In general sub4sub is a waste of time and can make you feel bad as well as making your channel look like it is performing poorly.

I earned all my subscribers the hard way. But even then, only 10% of all total views (or some low number like that, haven't checked in a while) are from my subscribers.

That was a huge problem for my older channel. I had never done sub4sub on that channel and neither had the friend that was on it too, but yet we had 990 subscribers and only a small portion would actually watch. I think it was probably because of our super irregular upload time.
