Cross Channel Promotion?

So I have a tech reviews channel, which is mainly reviews and guides etc.
Its not doing too badly so far, and I dont want to upload any other random videos. I'd rather keep the channel as it is, with a pretty strict purpose etc, so subscribers know exactly what the channel is about.

Hence I'm going to start a new channel once the new layout goes live.
The logo is very similar, as is the channel branding etc. Just a change of name really!

The second channel will be used for random stuff, with playlists for funny videos, maybe a bit of gaming, pranks, and so on - general informal stuff, where I don't have to edit the video as much as I do with my main channel!

So, my question is - should I cross promote?
Should I inform my current subscribers in my current channel about the new channel?
On the other hand, Im considering keeping both completely separate, since they both have a completely separate purpose etc?

So:
OPTION 1: Cross promote. Mention the other channel at the end of each video with a link, leavng it up to the viewer to check out.
OPTION 2: Rather then advertise the new channel on my current one, maybe silently promote it? i.e, simply have a link in my current channel to the new one, and thats it?
OPTION 3: Keep both completely separate, since they are likely to attract 2 different kinds of subscriber/viewer.

How would you proceed?
How likely are people to generally subscribe to both channels?
 
My vote would also be to cross promote, what could go wrong?... Crap, that's what they say in movies just before something really bad happens... :biggrin:
 
In the new YouTube channel layout you can promote your other channel(s) on the right hand side of the screen. The new layout should become available sometime today, so you might also want to give that a try.

Yes, you should.That's a technique a lot of the giant YouTubers incorporate I don't see how it could have anything but an upside. Plus your current subs would love watching you goof off a little and have some fun. Good luck with your new channel.:)

Finally got round to creating the second channel now so I'll go ahead and get some content up and start promoting hopefully soon!
Will let you know how it goes!
