Creating a team/group?

What does everyone think about creating a team/group?

Is there any point to them in any shape or form unless you're already mega YouTubers with massive fanbases?

I was thinking about creating one but then thought is there actually any point because I'd like it to be community based where we could run competitions, top5's and other sort of videos and for that you need a subscriber base to begin with, right?

I dunno, what does everyone think about this?

I have moved this to the Strategies and Technique advice forum.

From my own point of view, collaborations and building teams can be very beneficial, especially if one or two of the members/persons in the group/collab take off, it could mean growth for all involved as subscribers from one person subscribe to others in the group.

There's definitely value in teaming up, if it's done the right way.

At a small channel level, it's more about your interaction with each other than with the audience. In this sense, a "team" could be thought of as a long term, amorphous collaboration. Vlogbrothers is a prime example. They were literally making videos for each other and those videos found an audience.

Find and "team up" with creators that inspire and motivate you. That's huge.

Another valuable would be behind the scenes, what you might call a "mastermind" group. This is a more professional, studious arrangement where a small group of creators help each other solve problems, set goals, and hold each other accountable.

Symbiotic relationships take all forms, and there are so many more ways creators to support each other than the two above. I'm sure there are a number of "tit for tat" arrangements that could work as well (meaning an exchange of services, not sub-for-sub or anything cheap like that).

Of course, make certain it's with the right people. :p

It really depends on what your channel is, if it's a gaming channel then yes that would benefit everyone but usually only one of two people benefit the most from the group because of their unique qualities, like who's the funniest/more entertaining or most skilled.
