COVER SONGS: What type interests you MOST?

YouTube musicians are doing everything from faithful renditions of the original to A capella versions to instrumentals to genre-jumping drastic reworks.

I’m experimenting and seeking that secret sauce that will grab people and keep them listening, beyond just raw musical talent.

What type of cover songs do YOU look for? What gets your attention?

Personally, I like it when someone creates an acoustic cover, and makes it their own. That really shows skill.

Being a solo acoustic guitarist myself, obviously that's the style I like the most when listening to covers (and originals of course). That aside, as far as covers with singing concerned I really like the bigger guys like Chester See, Tyler Ward, Alex Goot, Tiffany Alvord because they always interpret the given song in their own way but my favourite is gotta be Kurt Schneider (and the guys he collaborates with), that guy is a genius. :)

Thanks for the compliment! :) I use a Rode NT1-A microphone and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface to record my guitar (though I'm about to upgrade my mic :P).

I have heard, from people who know what they are doing, that the fastest way to draw a sub base in music, is taking the top 40 songs and just putting them on a different instrument, usually acoustic guitar or something : )
