Could We Soon Be PAYING For YouTube?

Paying for content should... increase the quality of content. So if that's the case I'm all for it for certain channels.

It`s just for certain channels/content though (only like 150 channels in total) this was said like 2-3 months ago :p
But...but which channels? WHICH ONES?!?!?! I'm going to pout like a disgruntled child if my favorites start requiring a fee.

I saw a tweet by Hazard Cinema linking this website

I doubt they would make us pay to use the website. Why should they? I'm sure they're already making their fair share off of ad revenue anyway.

"Premium" channels. I.E. nothing you are getting for free now. Don't worry. It will likely fail, and even if it doesn't, it doesn't affect what you do.

Australia just got this news the other day... we are sooo behind. The word on our end is that it will be, get this: 50 WHOLE CHANNELS!!!11!

It's really no big deal, I can see it working for certain companies/creators who use youtube, but not all of them. It's not like I can start charging my 10 subs to see me*, and it's not like they would pay. I don't think it means much for us.

*I have more than 10 subs.

Not a big deal, there are already some channels that have paid content (Rhett and Link for one). They have a full length documentary that's available for purchase. I think this will be how it's used by most YouTubers, for big projects and longer-form content. I can see Freddie W putting a feature length film out, or Smosh doing a 30min Christmas Special for .99 or whatever. But most likely it will probably just be episodes of Glee and New Girl for purchase or whatever...

Yeah, i agree with most of the people who replied. It would be stupid to charge to use the site. Google already has a crap ton of free services, a lot of them don't even have ads, so i'm pretty sure they're doing ok lol.
