It`s just for certain channels/content though (only like 150 channels in total) this was said like 2-3 months ago

Its only for specific types of content. You already have to pay for some stuff on YouTube; movies, tv programs etc. I don't see this as too much of a big deal.

Yep, this was brought up back in January, actually. Then it came up again when they built it into the latest iOS app. No idea why it's resurfacing now.

I'm fine with this as some channels do go through a lot of expense to present their material. Personally, I'm a low-budget guy so the ads cover everything =)
